Overview

Salary: £30,000–£40,000 (dependent on experience). Van, Overtime.

East London and surrounding areas

Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking experienced Cable Field Engineers to support a growing programme of civils and utilities works across East London. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on fieldwork, working outdoors, and contributing to the delivery of essential national infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Install, prove, and pull cable through ducts, chambers, and underground infrastructure
  • Support civils teams with excavation, reinstatement, and safe access to network assets
  • Carry out site surveys, assessments, and produce clear, accurate documentation
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve cable faults or performance issues
  • Work in accordance with industry standards, safety legislation, and site-specific RAMS
  • Coordinate with field teams and supervisors to maintain smooth project progress
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained to operational standards

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in cable installation, maintenance, or utilities field engineering
  • Strong understanding of underground ducting systems, cable handling, and civils environments
  • Good awareness of safety protocols, including working in the highway or around live utilities
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and undertake physically demanding tasks
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
