Job Summary

The Clinical Governance Lead is responsible for maintaining oversight of ACCESS’s governance and risk profile. This entails overseeing compliance with governance protocols, facilitating communication between internal and external stakeholders, and promoting a culture of accountability and risk management. The Clinical Governance Lead is a leadership position that requires expertise in governance with an ability to develop and implement robust governance frameworks, policies and SOP’s. By providing guidance, support, and oversight, you will contribute to the overall effectiveness and quality of the ACCESS operating system.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a robust clinical governance framework for ACCESS ratified by the Operational Leadership Board, Partnership Board and Barts Health NHS Trust.
  • Oversee preparation and reporting of monthly ACCESS Governance reports, including summaries of key service governance indices such as Death within 72 hours of transfer, Datix reports, Serious Incidents (SIs), complaints and Failure Log for ACCESS Governance (FLAGs).
  • Collaborate with the Risk Lead to maintain the ACCESS Risk register.
  • Organise and chair the monthly ACCESS Governance meeting in ACCESS London.
  • Ensure distribution of the monthly ACCESS Governance report to the ACCESS Operational Leadership Team and the ACCESS Strategic Board, and to internal and external stakeholders including NHS London, London Ambulance Service, London ODNs and St Bartholomew’s Clinical Support Services Directorate.
  • Attend ACCESS Operational Leadership Team meetings and provide a governance update as a standing order.
  • Investigate ACCESS Datix submissions and provide reports for the St Bartholomew’s Governance team to review.
  • Review deaths within 72 hours of transfer and FLAGs.
  • Review all taskings highlighted for governance review and produce feedback outcomes.
