A senior leadership opportunity for someone who knows how to run large, complex social housing operations and steady the ship while driving long-term growth.

This role takes full ownership of a Residential / Social Housing management unit with a £30m+ portfolio (c. £22m forecast next year). The focus is on stabilising performance after a challenging period, integrating previously split operations, and building a sustainable pipeline of long-term local authority and council work.

You’ll be leading from the front — setting direction, owning commercial outcomes, and being fully accountable for safety, quality, delivery, client relationships, and profitability.

The role

  • Lead and integrate a Residential unit, bringing together former North & South operations into one high-performing team
  • Full P&L responsibility across a significant social housing portfolio
  • Stabilise operational delivery across safety, quality, programme, and cost
  • Own commercial performance: forecasting, margin control, risk & opportunity management
  • Drive sustainable growth through long-term local authority and council contracts
  • Line manage senior leaders (Senior PMs / Ops Managers and a Commercial Lead)
  • Act as the senior point of contact for clients, partners, and stakeholders
  • Ensure strong HSEQ performance and continuous improvement
  • Travel across the UK as required (mainly South East & Midlands)

What you’ll need

  • Proven senior management experience within social housing
  • Track record of running large portfolios of works with full operational and commercial accountability
  • Strong leadership style — able to stabilise, motivate, and build high-performing teams
  • Commercially sharp: forecasting, margin management, and contract compliance
  • Experience winning work, growing client relationships, and scaling teams sustainably
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel

Qualifications & compliance

  • SMSTS & CSCS (mandatory)
  • MCIOB and/or relevant degree desirable (experience is the priority)

If you’re a senior leader in social housing who enjoys sorting delivery first, then building something properly for the long term, this is a serious opportunity.
