Organisation

In 1957, James Tye, a World War II veteran, founded the British Safety Council with a simple but powerful belief, everyone has the right to return home safe and well at the end of the working day. His experiences during the war inspired a lifelong commitment to improving safety standards. Today, we are proud to continue his legacy through innovative campaigns and ground-breaking research that have saved tens of thousands of lives. We are guided by our vision that ‘no one should be injured or made ill through their work’.

Role

We are now seeking to recruit an experienced Research Officer to join our team in the UK. Moving forward, we aim to re-establish the British Safety Council as a thought leader and support the development of our charitable impact program, which focuses on the safety and wellbeing of workers in an increasingly crisis-prone world.

The Research Officer will conduct, commission, and collaborate on tailored research projects designed to build an evidence base for best practices in worker safety, health, and wellbeing, both in the UK and internationally. The role holder will work with the wider team to help secure funding for these research projects and collaborate with the communications, marketing, and technical teams to share and promote the findings and outputs of these and other research initiatives.

In addition, the role will include conducting internal desk research to support organisational strategy as required, including competitor monitoring, pricing and market tracking, and trend analysis. The Research Officer will be expected to design and deliver surveys, manage qualitative and quantitative data collection, and utilise appropriate research tools to generate actionable insights that inform decision-making.
