An opportunity to join a high-impact Digital Solutions team focused on applying AI and data science to real-world engineering and operational challenges.
This role sits at the intersection of analytics, machine learning and applied problem-solving. The focus is on extracting value from complex, imperfect datasets, including correlating large-scale operational data such as gas leak and infrastructure datasets.
This is not a reporting-led Data Analyst position. The emphasis is on modelling, experimentation and turning raw data into predictive, commercially meaningful outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and correlate complex operational datasets to uncover patterns and insights
- Clean, restructure and prepare raw data for modelling
- Build and validate machine learning models
- Apply statistical and ML techniques to real-world engineering challenges
- Translate technical findings into practical business recommendations
- Operate with autonomy in exploring new data-driven solutions
What They’re Looking For
- Academic background in Data Science, AI, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar
- Strong grounding in data science and machine learning concepts
- Experience with statistical modelling and data manipulation
- Comfort working with ambiguous or messy datasets
- PhD preferred, but exceptional academic track record essential
- Self-starter with intellectual curiosity and problem-solving mindset
Ideal Candidate
- Strong theoretical understanding of ML principles
- Comfortable moving from raw data through to working models
- Naturally analytical and detail-oriented
- Motivated by applying AI to real-world, safety-critical or infrastructure-focused problems
