AI security engineer

Location & Compensation

Hybrid in Manchester, Northampton, Glasgow or London. Salary £80,000 – 100,000 pa (depending on experience). Sponsorship not available for this role.

About the role

We’re seeking an experienced security professional to play a key role in protecting advanced data‑driven systems across a complex technology environment. This role focuses on safeguarding sensitive information, enhancing secure engineering practices, and shaping the security approach for emerging AI/ML capabilities.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing and deploying controls that protect high‑value systems and data
• Developing protocols, tooling and automation to harden AI/ML pipelines and model‑driven services
• Managing secure handling of secrets, keys and identities
• Assessing emerging threats, conducting security reviews and analysing vulnerabilities
• Carrying out technical investigations, code reviews, and hands‑on testing of AI‑related software

Essential skills & experience

• Strong scripting and programming (Python essential; Bash/Shell desirable)
• Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure)
• Knowledge of API design and security (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, etc.)
• Understanding of AI/ML concepts or a strong interest in building expertise in this area
• Experience in threat modelling, vulnerability assessment, or security testing
• Familiarity with secure development practices (e.g., DevSecOps, OWASP)
• Background in identity, access control or secrets/key management
• Ability to interpret complex technical problems and communicate clearly
• Positive collaborator able to influence stakeholders and guide others
