The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established HGV fleet maintenance business in Stoke-on-Trent, is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee a small, skilled team of mechanics. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll manage day‑to‑day operations, support your team, and ensure high standards of vehicle maintenance and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and lead a small team of workshop mechanics
• Plan and control bookings, job allocation, and workshop workflow
• Act as the main point of contact for customers, ensuring clear communication and service delivery
• Ensure all HGV maintenance and repairs are completed efficiently, safely, and to regulatory standards
• Monitor productivity, quality, and turnaround times
• Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures
• Provide reports and operational feedback to senior management

Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience as a Workshop Manager or senior supervisor in HGV, PSV, or commercial vehicle workshops
• Strong leadership and people management skills for a small team
• Excellent organisational and planning abilities
• Professional and customer-focused communication style
• Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities effectively
• Comfortable using workshop management and booking systems
