Electrical Controls Engineer

Rochdale, Greater Manchester | Full Time | £35,000-£45,000 per annum (DOE)

A world‑class ISO9001‑accredited, market‑leading manufacturer of automatic combustion equipment is looking for a motivated Electrical Controls Engineer to join its growing team. Are you the right person for the job?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Knowledge of IET wiring regulations (BS 7671)
  • Proficient in reading and creating electrical schematics in AutoCAD Electrical
  • Hands‑on experience with PLC/HMI programming in TIA Portal
  • Experience implementing and troubleshooting industrial networks (Modbus/Profinet/Ethernet‑IP)
  • Knowledge of ATEX/DSEAR regulations – preferred
  • Understanding of functional safety standards (IEC 61508/61511) – preferred

What will your role look like?

  • Lead complex electrical engineering projects, including FAT and SAT activities
  • Generate technical documentation, including control philosophies, FDS, and C&E documents
  • Produce detailed cable schedules and block cable diagrams
  • Collaborate with mechanical teams to design cable routing and associated containment
  • Program, test, and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs
  • Support installation and commissioning activities on site
  • Produce detailed costings and labour estimates to assist the sales team
  • Provide technical support to engineers and customers
