Deployment Engineer (Hardware/Software) – UK wide travel – Contract role

Synergize Consulting are now hiring for a Deployment Engineer to work at a leading defence client on a contract basis.

This role will focus on upgrading and maintaining IT infrastructure across multiple UK sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for server upgrades, IP address configuration, network changes, and general infrastructure support within secure, operational environments.

Due to the nature of the programme, regular UK-wide travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Upgrade and replace Servers across multiple secure sites
• Configure and manage IP Addressing, subnetting, and network changes
• Support infrastructure refresh activities including hardware installation and decommissioning
• Perform system builds, patching, and software upgrades
• Ensure all work is completed in line with security policies and change management procedures
• Troubleshoot network and server-related issues onsite
• Work closely with central IT, security teams, and operational stakeholders
• Maintain accurate documentation of changes, configurations, and asset updates
• Support testing and validation following upgrades or infrastructure changes

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience as an IT Infrastructure Engineer or similar role
• Strong hands‑on experience with Windows Server environments
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, subnetting)
• Experience performing server upgrades and hardware installations
• Familiarity with Active Directory and Group Policy
• Experience working within secure or regulated environments
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally
• Due to the nature of the client, it would be an advantage for candidates to hold, or be eligible and willing to undergo, a certain level of security clearance (SC)
