Job Description:

Blocktech Mep are looking on behalf of their client for a Mechanical Project Manager to join their successful team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be expected to manage the successful running & completion of multiple projects from inception to completion, whilst developing/maintaining relationships with clients.

The successful candidate will need to possess the ability to work efficiently and independently within a small but busy multi‑disciplined team controlling various projects at any one time from receipt of order to final account. Projects values range from £10k to £5M.

Attributes Required

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a management/supervision role of a similar nature with the mechanical or utilities Industry.
  • Methodical and well organised with strong leadership skills.
  • Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and multitask.
  • A high level of commercial awareness and experience.
  • Good references available with an employment history that shows stability.

Our client are specialist suppliers and installers of pre‑insulated heating and cooling distribution pipes. They are market leaders in underground pre‑insulated pipe systems and do all manner of project types, including district heating, community heating, and combined heat and power (CHP) projects, anything from large scale CHP biomass heating to a short run across school playgrounds. Previous projects include Airports, Chemical Process, Hospitals, Hotels, MOD, and local authority district heating.

Key Tasks

Key tasks of the role include: (but are not limited to)

  • Regular site visits monitoring work progress and ensuring the quality of work is to the acceptable standard and consistent with the company’s expectations.
  • Analysis of labour resource requirements and placement & control of labour, managing associated costs in accordance with set budgets.
  • Ensuring company policies with regard to H&S, environmental etc. are always adhered to.
  • Providing general advice & support to site supervisors/foreman.
  • Attending project meetings with clients, consultants, sub‑contractors and other third parties as necessary.
