Job Description:

Commercial / Procurement Manager

London & South East | Defence & MOD Programmes | Consultancy

I’m currently partnering with a well-established consultancy delivering major UK defence and MOD programmes. Due to continued growth across their defence portfolio, they are looking to appoint a Commercial / Procurement Manager to support projects across London and the wider South East region.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially capable professional who thrives in structured, regulated environments and is looking to further develop their experience across complex defence programmes within a consultancy setting.

The Role

Working within integrated client teams across London and the South East, you will support defence programmes throughout the full commercial lifecycle — from procurement strategy and tendering through to contract award, administration and close-out.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing end-to-end procurement activities in line with UK public sector regulations
  • Supporting the development and implementation of sourcing and commercial strategies
  • Drafting, negotiating and administering contracts (NEC, JCT or bespoke forms)
  • Managing supplier performance, cost control and commercial risk
  • Providing commercial advice to project and programme stakeholders
  • Supporting governance, compliance and audit requirements
  • Ensuring alignment with MOD and government procurement frameworks
  • Programmes typically span infrastructure, engineering, digital capability, equipment support and capital delivery projects.

About You

  • Experience in procurement and/or commercial management within defence, aerospace, infrastructure or other regulated sectors
  • Working knowledge of Public Contracts Regulations (PCR) and/or DSPCR
  • Experience working with MOD or central government clients desirable
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
  • Detail-oriented with a structured approach to commercial risk and compliance
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) MCIPS, MRICS or working toward professional accreditation advantageous

Security Requirements

Due to the sensitive nature of the work, candidates must hold Security Clearance (SC) or be eligible and willing to obtain it.

Applicants must also be sole British nationals to meet clearance eligibility requirements.

What’s on Offer

  • London & South East-based role with hybrid working (subject to project and clearance requirements)
  • Opportunity to work on nationally significant defence programmes
  • Clear career development within a growing consultancy defence practice
  • Exposure to complex, high-value commercial environments
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
  • This role would suit someone currently operating within defence procurement, the Government Commercial Function or a consultancy environment who is looking to broaden their programme exposure and progress within a structured defence setting.
