Currently we have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a specialist inpatient, rehabilitation and low secure service providing high-quality care for men and women with complex mental health needs. You’ll be working across a modern 72-bed centre consisting of acute, rehabilitation, ASD and low secure wards, delivering dedicated clinical leadership within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Salary: £160,000 – £175,000 DOE Position: Consultant Psychiatrist Hours: Full-time (0.6 WTE clinical caseload allocation) Setting: Inpatient, rehabilitation and low secure mental health service Location: Widnes, Northwest (near Liverpool, Manchester & Chester)
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Provide RC responsibilities and consultant psychiatric input to inpatient services
- Manage a caseload of 8–12 patients depending on ward need
- Participate in a low-frequency regional second-on-call rota
- Assess new referrals and support safe, appropriate admissions
- Lead MDT clinical practice and contribute to governance and service development
- Maintain strong relationships with community teams and commissioners
- Support training, supervision and education within the service
For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:
- MRCPsych or recognised equivalent qualification
- CCT in General Adult, Forensic, LD Psychiatry or Psychotherapy desirable
- Full GMC registration and recent annual appraisal
- Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status
- Experience supporting patients with complex needs in MDT settings
