This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Solicitor with Duty status who is looking to join a supportive firm with a strong presence in the local market.

The Role

In this position, you will represent clients at the police station and Magistrates’ Court, providing advice and advocacy across a broad range of criminal matters. You will manage your own caseload from initial instruction through to conclusion, ensuring clients receive clear, practical advice at every stage of the process.

• Attend police stations to advise and assist detained clients
• Conduct advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court
• Prepare cases for trial and liaise with clients, counsel, court staff and other relevant parties
• Work effectively under pressure, often dealing with urgent and sensitive matters, while maintaining a high standard of client care

The Candidate

• Qualified Solicitor with Duty Solicitor accreditation and experience handling criminal defence matters
• Confident providing police station representation and conducting own advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court
• Strong communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to work independently
• Professional and empathetic approach when dealing with vulnerable clients in challenging circumstances
• Committed to quality representation, teamwork and long-term career development
