Job Description:

The Marketing Director provides strategic leadership for all marketing, communications, business development and bid activity at Buttress. This role sets direction, aligns activity across sectors, and ensures delivery is effective, joined-up and reflective of the practice’s values, purpose, cultural manifesto and ambitions.

This is both a strategic leadership role and an accountable delivery role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy & leadership

  • Develop and own the practicewide marketing, BD and communications strategy.
  • Advise the Leadership Team on market positioning, growth priorities and brand.
  • Align sector strategies, bids, comms and BD activity.

Bid & BD oversight

  • Provide senior oversight of bid strategy and quality.
  • Support high-value or sensitive bids.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and positioning.

Brand & communications

  • Own the Buttress brand and reputation.
  • Oversee internal and external communications.
  • Ensure culture, purpose, manifesto, values and EOT principles are embedded in messaging.

Team leadership

  • Lead and develop the marketing, bids and BD team.
  • Set clear priorities, standards and expectations.
  • Build a collaborative, high-performing function.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has senior marketing or BD leadership experience within architecture, construction or professional services.
  • Has proven experience working with Exec Directors, LT/Board and senior leaders.
  • Has a track record of delivering growth through structured BD and marketing.
  • Be part of an employee‑owned practice with a strong sense of purpose

Salary: £68,000 to £75,000 (FTE) per annum, subject to experience
