Job Description:

CTO | YC-Backed AI Startup | London | £115–130K + significant equity

You can get further details about the nature of this opening, and what is expected from applicants, by reading the below.

Two types of people will love this role.

An experienced Engineering Lead or Head of Engineering who is ready to make the step up into a CTO position – with the right environment to do it in.

Or a startup CTO who wants to get into something early, own the technical direction from the ground up, and hold meaningful equity before the next funding round.

Either way – the product is live, the engineering team is in place and shipping, and the business is already generating revenue across the US and UK, with European expansion underway. This is a technical leadership hire into a working product, not a blank slate.

The platform is built on a large-scale proprietary dataset, powered by LLMs and agentic workflows. The engineering challenge is genuinely complex – the kind of problem that will stretch and excite a serious technical leader.

The team is small, talented, and needs someone who will lead from the front and still get their hands dirty.

Must haves:

  • Hands-on engineering leadership at one or more early-stage startups
  • A track record of shipping real products at scale
  • Founder DNA – you’ve built something yourself or have operated at founding-team level
  • Experience hiring and growing small engineering teams
  • Active hands-on coder – Python and/or TypeScript
  • Data-first background – pipelines, databases, and large-scale data modelling
  • Comfortable owning AI/LLM tooling end to end, not just evaluating it
  • London-based – you enjoy being in the office and value in-person collaboration, with some flexibility
  • Experience in regulated industries – healthcare, pharma, fintech
  • Graph database or large-scale data pipeline experience
  • Elasticsearch at scale

The deal:

  • Significant early-stage equity stake – details shared on first call
  • London – primarily in-office with some flexibility. xwzovoh The kind of environment where ideas move fast, decisions get made in person, and you’re not managing people over Slack
