The Role

This is a senior-level Electrical / Controls Systems position with responsibility across the full machine lifecycle – from concept design through to commissioning.

You will work closely with mechanical design engineers and development teams to deliver robust, compliant and high-performing machine control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electrical control system design (schematics, panel layouts, BOMs)
  • PLC programming (Siemens and/or Allen Bradley)
  • Motion control and servo integration
  • HMI system development (PC-based systems advantageous)
  • Machinery safety system design (EN60204 and relevant standards)
  • Integration of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) support and commissioning
  • Provide technical support to service teams and customers when required
  • Project reporting into the Engineering Director

This role would suit someone comfortable working autonomously within an SME-style engineering environment.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering
  • 6+ years’ experience in industrial automation or special purpose machinery
  • Strong electrical design capability (Eplan preferred)
  • PLC programming experience (Siemens or Allen Bradley)
  • Experience working on bespoke machinery or capital equipment
  • Understanding of machinery safety standards

Desirable:

  • Motion control / CNC system exposure
  • Experience with Wonderware, LabVIEW, or PC-based HMI systems
  • Commissioning experience
  • Multi-disciplinary project experience
