We are seeking a UK‑based Solutions Architect to join a growing Solutions Engineering & Design team.
This role is responsible for shaping next‑generation automation solutions for warehouse and distribution environments.
The position supports global commercial teams and requires close collaboration with customers, system integrators, partners, and cross‑functional internal teams across hardware, software, delivery, and product development.
*A strong background in data analytics, solution design, supply chain, warehouse operations, and experience across retail, wholesale, or e‑commerce is essential.*
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site visits, software demonstrations, discovery workshops, and customer‑facing presentations throughout the pre‑sales process
- Support the end‑to‑end delivery of automation solutions, including conceptual and detailed design, modelling, and implementation
- Act as a subject matter expert, aligning customer requirements with automation and software capabilities
- Collaborate with Sales, Product, Solution Design, Delivery, and Customer Success teams to develop high‑impact solutions
- Produce accurate deliverables for sales pursuits, including data analysis, AutoCAD layouts, solution models, BOMs, and proposal material
- Collect and analyse customer data and translate insights into clear visualisations supporting design decisions
- Apply MOST methodologies to create engineered labour standards and productivity targets
- Build and deliver simulation models to validate proposed solutions and ensure alignment with customer KPIs
- Develop compelling business cases and ROI models tailored to multiple business channels.
- Provide cross‑functional program management for all sales pursuits, including internal approvals and solution reviews
- Facilitate design and integration workshops with customer teams
- Support and/or lead the implementation phase while partnering with delivery teams to ensure KPI achievement
- Partner with Product and R&D teams to influence future solution offerings and technology roadmaps
- Represent the organisation at industry events and trade shows, providing thought leadership in key verticals
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree (mandatory)
- Willingness to travel 30–40% as required
- 4+ years of experience in distribution centre solution design, supply chain consulting, 3PL, industrial engineering, material handling, and/or automation
- Strong proficiency in data analysis and working with large datasets (order profiling, inventory analysis, storage analysis, sensitivity analysis)
- Experience leading client‑facing workshops, discovery sessions, and consultancy engagements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting to senior stakeholders
- Subject matter expertise across wholesale, retail, and/or e‑commerce
- Proficient in warehouse process design, re‑design, and creation of engineered labour standards using MOST
- Experience with WMS, WES, and WCS systems and understanding of their respective functions
- Strong material‑handling knowledge and ability to specify equipment requirements
- High level of commercial and financial acumen, including business case and ROI modelling
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Industrial Engineering; Master’s or MBA beneficial
- Experience designing automation or mechanised solutions within warehouse/DC environments
- Programming or database skills (e.g., SQL, advanced MS Access) for large dataset manipulation
- Familiarity with simulation tools used in warehouse and distribution environments
