Job Description:

Autumnal Partners are currentley working with a leading mid-market PE Fund based seeking an experienced Senior Fund Controller on an interim basis.

This role sits within the finance team and will take responsibility for oversight of fund accounting, as well as key middle office functions including valuations support and treasury oversight.

The successful candidate will act as a key interface between the firm, its fund finance team, and internal stakeholders, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong operational, and efficient management of fund-level processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee outsourced fund accounting performed by third-party administrators across multiple private equity funds and related vehicles.
  • Review and challenge NAV calculations, capital account statements, and quarterly financial reporting packs.
  • Ensure accuracy of capital calls, distributions, and waterfall calculations.
  • Manage the month-end and quarter-end close process with fund administrators.
  • Review and approve investor reporting materials prior to distribution.

Valuations

  • Support the quarterly valuation process across the firm’s investment portfolio.
  • Coordinate with investment teams to collect relevant valuation inputs and supporting documentation.
  • Review valuation models and ensure alignment with relevant accounting standards and valuation guidelines.
  • Prepare materials for internal valuation committees and auditors.

Treasury & Liquidity Management

  • Oversee fund-level cash management liquidity planning.
  • Coordinate capital calls and distribution processes with the administrator and investor relations teams.
  • Monitor bank accounts and cash positions across fund structures.
  • Support FX management and fund-level borrowing facilities where relevant.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary contact for the fund administrator on operational and reporting matters.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and other external service providers.
  • Partner with investment, legal, and investor relations teams to support fund operations.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency across fund finance and middle office processes.Strengthen documentation and controls around key fund accounting and treasury processes.Support implementation of new systems, reporting templates, or operational workflows where required.

The client is keen to meet with immediately available candidates with deep fund control expeirence within Private Equity – you will likely be 8 years PQE + with excellent communication skills and experience in review and oversight of your previous teams work.
