Senior Safety Engineer

Principal Product Safety Engineer – Defence

Location: Bristol, Surrey or Portsmouth.

Security – Please note that this role requires eligibility for SC clearance.

An experienced Product Safety Engineer is required to support the safe delivery of complex engineering systems within a highly regulated environment. This role will focus on identifying and managing hazards, developing safety cases, and ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards across the engineering lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing hazards, risks and associated mitigations
• Maintaining hazard logs and safety documentation
• Producing safety cases and safety management plans
• Facilitating hazard identification workshops and safety reviews
• Supporting assurance and acceptance activities
• Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams

Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of safety management and risk assessment processes
• Experience across multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle
• Familiarity with defence or functional safety standards
• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation
• Degree-qualified in Engineering or a related STEM subject
• Professional registration (or working towards) desirable
