Regional Safety Manager – Cambridgeshire & East of England

Location: Cambridgeshire (regional travel across multiple sites including Cambridge, Huntingdon, Southend, Bishop’s Stortford, Harlow, King’s Lynn, Stowmarket)

Salary: £60k – £65k plus car allowance

Contract Type: Full-time, permanent

About the Role

A well-established construction and groundworks contractor is seeking an experienced Regional Safety Manager to lead and support Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) compliance across a large portfolio of projects in the Cambridgeshire and East of England region. This is a key leadership position, working closely with operational teams to ensure safe working practices, compliance with UK legislation, and development of a strong safety culture across all sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Regional SHE Advisors, ensuring consistent safety standards across all projects
  • Conduct regular site visits, audits, and inspections, providing practical guidance to project teams
  • Analyse incident reports and safety data to identify trends and implement preventative measures
  • Support Principal Contractor responsibilities and ensure compliance with UK health & safety legislation
  • Deliver HSE training, toolbox talks, and safety briefings to teams across the region
  • Undertake serious accident investigations and implement follow-up measures
  • Monitor subcontractor safety standards and performance
  • Build strong relationships with clients, senior management, and site teams

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • NEBOSH qualification (Degree / NVQ desirable)
  • Proven experience in a Safety Advisor or Safety Manager role within groundworks, construction, or residential projects
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and construction site operations
  • Experience producing RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, safety policies, and compliance audits
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to influence at all levels
  • Full UK driving licence
