Job Description:Assessing and appraising tender opportunities for their suitability to bid Reviewing tender information for the scope of works to be delivered Defining and quantifying the scope of works and preparing comprehensive conceptual, budgetary, and finalised price construction cost estimates for projects Carrying out site visits when necessary to assess constraints, risks, etc. associated with the defined scope of work Liaising with technical departments for bearing and temporary works design requirements for tenders Sending out enquiries for subcontractor work packages and evaluating responses Analysing and interpreting technical drawings and specifications Complying with bid governance requirements Compiling tender submission documents, including offer letters, BoQs, or activity schedules Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering, with a valid CSCS Card Minimum of 5 years’ estimating experience in civil engineering projects or from a background as a Construction Engineer and/or Technician, with a strong grasp of commercial issues, costs, selling, risk, production, and works programming Ideally have sector knowledge in bridge/concrete repairs, structural strengthening, bearing replacement, post tensioning systems, carbon fibre strengthening, external building refurbishment, jacking & propping, or cathodic protection Strong ability to understand technical drawings and requirements Excellent IT skills, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and estimating software Organised, methodical, and good analytical skills The right to live and work in the UK, and a valid driving license
