ROLE OVERVIEW
GRIDSERVE is seeking an accomplished and driven Senior Construction Project Manager to join our Delivery team. In this critical leadership role, you will take ownership of the delivery of complex construction projects in the Northern region of the UK. From Investment Committee sign off through to final client handover, you will be accountable for ensuring each project in the region is delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
You will bring deep construction expertise, commercial oversight, and the ability to lead, work cross-functionally and with external partners. As a senior figure within the team, you will also contribute to the refinement of project governance, reporting frameworks, and delivery excellence across all Group infrastructure projects.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead EV charging infrastructure projects in the North of the UK, following handover from the Development team at Investment Committee.
- Work closely and provide technical leadership to assigned project managers in the Northern region, to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to budget.
- Manage framework contractors in line with the defined Contractor Governance structure, ensuring technical compliance, cost control, programme alignment, and contract obligations are met.
- Attend and support site feasibility, site scoping and kick off meetings in the pre-construction phase.
- Accountable Project Manager for assigned Group infrastructure projects.
- Responsible for bi weekly site visits, and monthly site inspections for assigned projects.
- Coordinate technical inputs and ensure that designs are fully integrated, value-engineered, and construction-ready.
- Oversee completion of comprehensive project documentation, including construction programmes, construction phasing plans, waste plans, and compound layouts.
- Monitor progress against key milestones, critical paths, and delivery KPIs—reporting performance via defined trackers to the scheduling manager on a weekly basis.
- Oversee and work cross functionally with the engineering team on commissioning, testing, and client handover activities, ensuring all compliance and certification is completed.
- Lead issue resolution and risk management for the Northern region and assigned projects.
- Oversee preparation and transfer of full project documentation to the Operations team, including H&S files, O&M manuals, as-built drawings, warranties, and electrical certifications.
- Support the continuous improvement of delivery processes, contributing to the development of Delivery standards, tools, and reporting models.
- Manage compliance with CDM, ISO 9001 & 14001, and electrical standards (BS 7671).
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Required Experience
8+ years of project delivery experience in construction or civil/ electrical infrastructure, with at least 5 years in a senior project leadership role.
Proven experience managing projects under design & build contracts, preferably in energy, EV charging, or utility infrastructure.
Experience managing complex contractor interfaces, and multi-site delivery programmes.
Hands-on experience delivering grid-connected sites with high-voltage/LV installations would be desirable.
Required Skills and Abilities

Deep understanding of construction methodologies, health and safety, environmental compliance, and site logistics.
Effective leadership and interpersonal skills to manage multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Strong decision-making, risk mitigation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities with a solutions-focused mindset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including executive reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and broader Microsoft Office tools
Required Qualifications and Certifications
Degree or HND/HNC in Construction Management, Electrical/Civil Engineering, or related technical field (required).
SMSTS or equivalent senior construction safety certification (required).
(BS 7671) electrical qualification (desirable).
Professional project management certifications (e.g., PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, PMP) (desirable)
