We are looking for a Junior Jewellery CAD Technician – to support our CAD Designer in the village of Ditchling near Brighton. This is an exciting chance to be a part of a fast-growing and award-winning jewellery business.
3D Modelling: Transform sketches, photos, or verbal briefs into precise 3D digital models using specialised software. Modify and refine existing models based on client feedback or technical constraints discovered during the feedback/prototyping phase.Technical Specifications: Calculate precise metal weights, ensure correct gemstone tolerances, and design functional components like clasps and hinges.Costing: To accurately cost models and their components and liaise with a client until a deposit is taken.Rendering: Create photorealistic 3D visuals and animations to help clients or internal teams visualise the finished product before it is made.Manufacturing Preparation: Prepare files for 3D printing (STL files) order along with any other materials needed for the piece.Data: Upkeep of the database of Models for re-OrderCustomer Service: Liaise with customers in person, online and via telephone on their designs, reusing their materials and making modifications until they are happy with both design and price.Skills & Software
Software Proficiency: Essential: Rhino 3D, G-Suite Desirable: Gemvision MatrixGold, ZBrush (for organic/sculptural forms) Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/Illustrator) for 2D renders and layout.
Gemmology and jewellery making knowledge: Some understanding of stone shapes, setting styles, and basic jewellery construction methods.Attention to Detail and design sense: High precision is required as measurements are often handled at the micron level.Problem-Solving: Identifying errors in the design process and ironing them out by setting rules for the working practise for when to consult either production or the design lead.Customer Service: An excellent and organised manner to liaise with customers on their designs, reusing their materials and making modifications until they are happy with both design and price.Qualifications & Experience
Education: A qualification in Jewellery Design, 3D Design, or Product Design, some proven craft knowledge and a strong portfolio.Experience: We expect you to be proficient in Rhino and to have a basic knowledge of how jewellery is made. All other training will be given. Plus some customer service experience in any customer facing role.Portfolio: A comprehensive portfolio showcasing both 3D renders and any making experience is essential.Please Note: This is a customer facing role working closely onsite with the manufacturing, sales and design teams. This requires you to be within commuting distance of BN6 8UQ. Do not apply if you are freelance or too far away to work onsite.
