Advanced Practitioner – Kinship Fostering

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 37 hours/week

Worker Type: Hybrid Worker

Salary: Starting Salary is £46,142 (Level one) rising to £49,282 (Level four).

Location: Nottingham City Council, Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham, NG2 3NG

As an Advanced Practitioner in the Kinship Fostering Team, you will:

  • Assess, support, supervise, and train Kinship Foster Carers and their families.
  • Help carers provide trauma-informed care to children and young people.
  • Complete full assessments for fostering panel and court.
  • Provide effective supervision, advice, and guidance to carers.
  • Work closely with the team around the child to support permanency planning.
  • Be involved in support groups, carer events, and training, including some evening and weekend work.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant experience working with children and families.
  • Registered with Social Work England and compliant with professional standards.
  • Proven assessment skills, with the ability to meet tight timescales for panel presentations and court proceedings.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with both carers and children.
  • Ability to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns effectively and in line with statutory guidance.
  • Commitment to multi‑agency working, ensuring holistic support to meet children’s needs.
  • Possession of a full UK driver’s license and access to a vehicle for work‑related travel.
  • A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
