Our client is a large, multi-site organisation. They are seeking an accomplished General Manager to lead a significant operational division with full responsibility for strategy, performance and long-term growth.

This is a senior executive role requiring a leader who can combine strong commercial acumen with operational oversight across a complex portfolio. The General Manager will play a key role within the executive leadership team, contributing to organisational strategy while ensuring the division delivers consistently high standards of performance, compliance and financial sustainability.

The successful candidate will bring a strong leadership presence and the confidence to contribute actively at executive level. They will be comfortable engaging in constructive challenge, articulating clear positions and helping drive timely and effective decision-making across the organisation.

Working closely with the CEO and wider executive team, the General Manager will lead the division through its next phase of development, strengthening operational capability while identifying opportunities for sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and deliver the long-term strategic direction for the division, translating organisational priorities into clear and measurable operational plans.
  • Contribute actively to executive-level discussions, providing constructive challenge and supporting robust strategic decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen existing operations, refine service delivery models and support sustainable organisational growth.

Operational Performance

  • Oversee the effective and efficient delivery of services across a complex multi-site portfolio.
  • Ensure operational performance remains consistent, compliant and aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain robust governance, operational systems and performance frameworks to support continuous improvement.
  • Hold full accountability for divisional financial performance, including profit and loss.
  • Lead the development of budgets, forecasts and financial plans aligned to organisational strategy.
  • Implement strong financial controls while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and commercial performance.

Organisational Development

  • Lead and develop a capable senior leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and high performance.
  • Drive leadership capability, succession planning and talent development across the division.
  • Support the organisation through periods of change, ensuring alignment between strategic priorities and operational delivery.

External Engagement

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders, sector partners and regulatory bodies.
  • Represent the organisation externally where required, strengthening reputation and credibility within the sector.
  • Support the organisation’s broader growth agenda, including the development and integration of new services or acquisitions.

Governance and Risk

  • Ensure the division operates within all relevant regulatory and governance frameworks.
  • Maintain effective oversight of risk management, compliance and organisational standards.
  • Promote a culture where quality, safety and accountability underpin all operational decisions.

What You’ll Bring

  • Significant senior leadership experience within complex, multi-site organisations.
  • A strong track record of improving organisational performance and leading strategic transformation.
  • Experience holding full responsibility for divisional financial performance, including profit and loss.
  • Experience operating at executive level and working closely with senior leadership teams, boards or investors.
  • Demonstrated success in leading large teams through change and organisational development.
