Field Engineer (076jc) – Covering London and South East – £30k + benefits + OTE £40k
My client is seeking a skilled Field Engineer to join a growing engineering team supporting clients across London and the South East. This role involves installing, deploying and configuring IT hardware at a variety of customer sites while ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
You will be part of a nationwide engineering network and play a key role in delivering high-quality technical solutions and excellent customer service.
Following a training period, this role includes participation in an on‑call rota (approximately 1 week in every 4 weeks) and you will receive a £3k on‑call allowance, as well as overtime payments for each call out. Over time opportunities are also available.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and deploy IT networking and point-of-sale hardware
- Configure hardware and troubleshoot installation issues
- Ensure smooth integration with existing client systems
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers on‑site
- Maintain accurate documentation of installations and service activities
- Collaborate with the service desk to deliver effective customer solutions
- Participate in an on‑call rota including out‑of‑hours support
Skills & Experience
- Strong networking and cabling experience, ideally across multiple networking technologies (Cisco experience beneficial)
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently
- Excellent time management and punctuality
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Self‑motivated with a problem‑solving mindset
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing environments
- A strong team player
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience with ServiceNow
- SC clearance
Essential
- Full, clean UK driving licence – a company vehicle and fuel card are provided
Compensation & Benefits
Good starting salary of £30k, plus a £3k on‑call bonus even if you don’t get called out. With overtime, you can realistically earn about £40k per year.
