Job Title: Senior Manager, International Development (2-year FTC)
Reporting to (Job Title): Director, International Development
Objective of role: To lead on the business development work for TheCityUK International by identifying and securing new projects, and manage existing projects from start to finish, with guidance from the Director, International Development.

Key Activities & Responsibilities
- Lead business development efforts of TheCityUK International in line with its international development strategy and in line with His Majesty Government (HMG), Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and TheCityUK members’ priorities.
- Lead and project manage international development projects, in collaboration with TheCityUK members, ensuring they are delivered on time, budget and to highest quality standards. Lead on compilation of technical reports and project deliverables.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation (and any partner organisations) to share information, draw in expertise and maximise the impact of TheCityUK International’s international development work.
- Support the delivery of international development strategy, work plans, policy positions, and other outputs in line with TheCityUK international’s strategic priority of supporting international development in emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs) and developed countries.
- Work with the Director, International Development to deliver TheCityUK International submissions to government, parliament, and regulators. This can involve drafting responses to government consultations and parliamentary inquiries, knowledge sharing, etc.
- Establish and manage a network of stakeholder relationships (e.g. officials in key government departments and regulators domestically and internationally) to support international development efforts.
- In collaboration with the corporate affairs team, lead communications and knowledge sharing of TheCityUK International projects.
Other Duties
- Partner with key industry stakeholders including trade associations, promotional bodies, business councils, chambers of commerce and other commercial organisations (both domestic and international) to deliver agreed outcomes.
- Provide briefings for colleagues and members ahead of major delegations and events relating to managed projects.
- Provide support in strengthening policies, procedures, and management tools for project implementation.
- Oversee a portfolio of donors, keep a track of their strategic and funding priorities and opportunities for engagement, and feed these into country resource mobilisation plans.
- Keep up to date with relevant policy developments and provide analysis of the implications for TheCityUK International’s international development work.
- Support the organisation’s goals and values.

Person Specification
Essential
- Experience in successfully sourcing international development projects and leading business development efforts at a senior level.
- Demonstrated track record in project management in EMDEs delivering projects and outputs on time, to requirements and on budget with limited supervision.
- Experience of the UK overseas development assistance (ODA) policymaking and/or regulatory institutions, the policy and regulatory environment, industry bodies.
- Demonstrable experience of taking lead responsibility for the development and delivery of reports, responses to government/regulatory consultations/inquiries/calls for input and influencing activity.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, including report writing skills, analytical and influencing skills.
- A team player approach, flexibility, enthusiasm, imagination, diplomacy and a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Self-starter, prioritises tasks, well organised, plans ahead and delivers to deadlines, strong attention to detail, conscientious, takes responsibility and ownership.
- A track record of balancing potentially competing interests, providing solutions to complex scenarios and delivering value-added outputs and outcomes.
- Ability to network, develop relationships and work with senior individuals across a range of organisations.
- Ability to travel overseas as required.
Desirable
- Experience in understanding of financial markets/policy/regulation, products, financial sector organisations.
- An understanding of membership and/or trade organisations, particularly those involved in the UK-based financial and related professional services industry.
- Degree educated in a field relevant to public policy or financial services. This can include an apprenticeship degree.
- Commercial outlook and ability to deliver value-added outcomes for members and donors.
- Experience working in diverse cultural environments.
- Foreign language skills.
