• Extensive experience in a senior technicalor quality management role within the food manufacturingindustry.• Strong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, foodsafety legislation, and retailer technical requirements.
• Proven experience in leading audits, managing supplierrelationships, and ensuring compliance with industrystandards.• Exceptional leadership skills withexperience in developing and managing high-performing technicalteams.• Strong analytical and problem-solvingabilities, with the ability to drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills,with the ability to influence at all levels.
Overview of the role:
As a Head of Technical, you will be the key technicalinterface for customers, internal teams, and suppliers, ensuringthe highest standards of food safety, quality, and legalcompliance. Reporting directly to the Technical Director, you willlead the technical team, drive continuous improvement, and providestrategic direction to enhance technical operations andcompliance.Key Responsibilities:• StrategicLeadership: Provide senior-level technical expertise, advising thebusiness on food safety, compliance, and quality standards to alignwith company objectives and industry best practices.•Technical Governance: Oversee all aspects of food safety, quality,and regulatory compliance, ensuring full adherence to legal,corporate, and BRCGS accreditation requirements.•Quality Management System (QMS): Ensure the QMS is effectivelymanaged, regularly reviewed, and continuously improved to driveoperational excellence.• Audit & ComplianceManagement: Lead customer and third-party audits, ensuring thebusiness consistently meets certification and compliancestandards.• HACCP & Risk Management: Lead the HACCPteam, ensuring effective risk assessments, reviews, andimplementation of corrective and preventative actions.•Technical Team Leadership: Manage and develop the technical team,providing coaching, training, and succession planning to buildcapability and expertise.• Innovation & ProductDevelopment Support: Collaborate with NPD, sourcing, andoperational teams to ensure technical feasibility and compliancefor new and existing products.• Performance &Continuous Improvement: Monitor and drive improvements indepartmental KPIs, challenging processes and implementingstrategies to enhance overall performance.• Regulatory& Industry Awareness: Stay ahead of changes in legislation andindustry developments, ensuring timely implementation of newregulatory requirements.
