Location: Rothienorman
Job Description:

Eden Scott is working exclusively with Mackie’s of Scotland, as they recruit a Head of Finance to lead the Finance function and support the long-term sustainability, profitability and stewardship of this family-owned business. This is a strategic leadership role in a fast-paced, growing business combining commercial insight with operational delivery, ensuring the business is guided by robust financial information.

Mackie’s are a major player in the UK premium ice cream market, with a strong brand heritage and a continued focus on sustainability, having invested in a £4.5 million low-carbon refrigeration system and continues to use four large wind turbines and a 10-acre solar farm. They bring a family orientated culture with celebration of achievements and long service, and this year are celebrating 40 years of ice cream production. Having started in 1986 on their family farm in Aberdeenshire, the company has grown from a local dairy farm to a major Scottish brand known for its “sky to scoop” production, using renewable energy and milk from its own herd.

With a strong track record in business growth and a continued focus on investment, this Head of Finance role is key to achieving strategic expansion plans alongside the wider leadership team, working closely with the Managing Director.

This is a varied role encompassing Strategy & Commercial, Financial Management & Control, Compliance & Statutory Reporting and IT oversight and you will adopt a hands-on approach, delivering accurate, relevant and timely management reporting to the Leadership Team, drive financial performance and accountability across the business, and hold responsibility for full statutory compliance, including financial reporting, tax and all relevant legislative requirements, while ensuring strong internal controls and efficient, well-governed finance processes.

On offer is a highly attractive base salary plus company performance related leadership bonus, and a strong benefits package which includes a company pension scheme, private medical insurance, DIS, Electric Car charging points on site, long service rewards and birthday voucher.

We are inviting applications from fully qualified accountants with strong senior finance leadership experience, ideally within a manufacturing or FMCG environment and exposure to IT systems oversight or ERP system implementation (desirable but not essential). In addition you will be forward thinking, with a growth mindset and display strong commercial acumen, and be able to demonstrate strategic flair and capability with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
