Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with a strong background as a time served electrician to support the design of commercial solar PV systems across the UK.

This role is suited to electricians who understand how solar installations work in the real world and can translate that knowledge into practical electrical design. The focus will be on commercial three phase solar PV systems, ensuring designs are efficient, compliant and practical for installation teams.

Remote working is available with occasional travel to project sites when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design commercial solar PV systems including three phase installations
• Produce electrical layouts, single line diagrams and cable sizing calculations
• Design inverter and distribution layouts for commercial systems
• Ensure designs are practical for installation teams and comply with electrical regulations
• Support installation and commissioning teams with technical queries
• Review site layouts and ensure cable routing and containment are practical for installation

Essential Requirements

• Time served electrician
• City and Guilds Level 2 and Level 3 Electrical Installation
• Strong commercial electrical installation experience
• Experience with commercial solar PV systems
• Knowledge of three phase electrical systems
• Experience installing containment and running cables on commercial sites

Desirable Qualifications

• AM2 qualification
• 2391 Inspection and Testing
• Experience with SolarEdge products
• Electrical design software or CAD experience
