About Camden

Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today and we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is an exciting new role at the heart of an ambitious programme to transform support for children and young people across North Central London. The postholder will lead complex, multi-agency projects across social care, health and education, requiring strong project delivery expertise, the ability to manage multi-borough governance arrangements and knowledge of Ofsted regulations for children’s homes. A key focus will be project managing the establishment of an innovative community mental health intensive support team, designed to prevent unnecessary placements and family breakdown, alongside leading the development of new children’s home services, including provision for children with complex needs.

The role will also involve leading commissioning processes and ensuring services are effective, efficient and deliver value for money. Responsibilities include developing business cases, financial forecasts and project plans, monitoring expenditure, implementing commissioning plans and reporting to relevant boards and external bodies. Co-production with young people, parents and carers will be central to all aspects of the role, ensuring their voices and experiences shape the design, delivery and governance of services.

All About You

You will bring strong experience of working within social care, education, health or a related field, with a proven track record of providing or commissioning services for children, young people and families. You will have experience of managing the full commissioning cycle, including budgets and expenditure, and a record of successful project management and delivery of improved outcomes within agreed timescales. You will also be confident working collaboratively across agencies and partnerships, and able to write and present policy and strategy to a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders.

You are an effective communicator with excellent negotiation and influencing skills, able to build strong relationships across organisations and borough boundaries. You are flexible and well organised, able to manage multiple priorities and projects at the same time. You can analyse and present complex information clearly to different audiences and are committed to working constructively with children, young people and their families to help develop responsive and high-quality services.
