Overview

Solutions Architect / Lead Architect / Customer Account CTO   Defence & National Security

This is a permanent role with on-site working at customer and Sopra Steria locations across the South of England.

Are you an experienced architect who enjoys designing and delivering complex solutions in secure, mission-critical environments? Do you want to work with defence and national security customers on systems that have real-world impact?

We are growing our architecture community and are hiring across multiple levels, from Solutions Architect and Lead Architect through to Customer Account CTO. These roles are central to our work with defence and national security customers, helping define, shape, and lead the delivery of secure, innovative, and effective solutions.

We are looking for people who can work with customers and internal teams to define and deliver secure solutions that meet today’s needs and support future growth. Depending on your experience and level, you may lead individual solution areas, shape wider architectural strategy, or act as a senior technical leader for a customer account.

What you will be doing:

  • You will define solution architectures for large-scale, complex, medium-risk, or highly specialised delivery and pre-sales assignments, including work that may lead to major downstream opportunities.
  • Depending on the role level, you may also influence strategic direction within a business area, contribute to architectural policy and standards, and help shape long-term customer and service roadmaps.
  • You will take ownership of the holistic architecture, design, and communication of solutions. While your focus is likely to be on business, application, and data architecture, you will work closely with specialists across infrastructure, security, and service architecture to create joined-up solutions.
  • You will help shape solutions that make the best use of existing capabilities while identifying and designing new services to meet customer needs.
  • You will be responsible for producing outline and high-level designs that meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

What you will bring:

We recognise that strong candidates may not meet every point below. If your background is relevant and you have experience leading architecture in secure, regulated, or complex environments, we would encourage you to apply.

We are interested in people with a combination of the following:

  • Good understanding of architecture standards, methods, and industry trends.
  • Experience delivering solutions for MOD, UKIC, government, or similarly secure and highly regulated environments.
  • Experience designing and owning complex end-to-end solutions, including the use of COTS products where appropriate.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Knowledge of modern application and software engineering practices, including DevSecOps.
  • Strong awareness of security and cyber considerations, including secure-by-design approaches.
  • Solid architecture experience, including familiarity with frameworks such as TOGAF.
  • Familiarity with modelling approaches and notations such as ArchiMate and C4.
  • Experience supporting delivery, stakeholder engagement, and pre-sales activity.

If you are interested in this role but not sure if your skills and experience are exactly what we’re looking for, please do apply, we’d love to hear from you!
