About the Role
A specialist further education setting based in Sutton, London is seeking a British Sign Language (BSL) qualified professional to join their team on a part‑time basis, working Monday to Wednesday each week. This role involves supporting Deaf or hearing‑impaired learners within a supportive and inclusive learning environment. You will play a vital role in enabling students to fully access lessons, communicate effectively, and achieve their learning goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide BSL interpretation and communication support for students during lessons and college activities.
- Support learners in understanding teaching materials and instructions.
- Work closely with lecturers and support staff to ensure students have full access to learning.
- Promote independence and confidence among learners.
- Assist with communication between students, staff, and peers where required.
- Maintain accurate records where necessary and contribute to student support planning.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A recognised BSL qualification (Level 2 or above preferred).
- Experience supporting Deaf or hearing‑impaired learners in an educational or support setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, supportive, and adaptable approach.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider support and teaching team.
