What role you will play in our team
Trading Market Risk Analyst with roles to support EAME Crude desks. You will be part of a team responsible for monitoring and managing the risk associated with ExxonMobil's trading activities, providing risk analysis for global and regional activities, and advising daily on trading PnL, exposures, VaR, and mark-to-market accounting.
Market Risk, not product control, capability in international crude trading.
What you will do
- Risk Reporting: Support daily End-of-Day (EOD) risk reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness including analyzing daily TCM, Value-at-Risk (VaR), and other key risk metrics.
- Trade Integrity & Exposure Management: Advise on and escalate data integrity issues, trade booking errors, and unusual changes in exposure. Ensure accurate trade capture and reconciliation across systems.
- Risk Management Techniques: Apply market risk concepts, Value at Risk (VAR), stress testing, and valuation, with analytical tools including ETRM systems to enhance risk reporting and portfolio analysis.
- Market Risk Advisory & Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Deliver market risk insights through daily analysis of trading positions, exposures, TCM, and risk limit utilization. Engage with refinery coordinators, schedulers, and traders to validate production data, inventory positions, and hedging signals, aligning operational realities with trading decisions.
- Trade Integrity & Dynamic Exposure Management: Lead daily oversight of exposure risk, maintain position tracking, resolve trade booking discrepancies, and provide timely alerts and recommendations, including Trade Money Management (TMM) and hedging options input.
- Analytical Excellence & Risk Methodology Leadership: Utilize and refine risk analytics such as VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis; attest and recommend curve methodology; leverage ETRM tools for forward-looking risk assessments.
- End-to-End Market Risk Process Mastery & Skill Evolution: Understand the full market risk lifecycle from trade capture to risk reporting and limit governance; develop expertise in market and commodity risk management techniques and stay ahead of industry developments.
About you
To be eligible for this role, you must:
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or other quantitative field
- Have significant work experience in energy trading, financial or energy risk management
Preferred Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
- An advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, CFA, or Ph.D.) in Energy or Financial Risk Management is preferred
- Attention to detail with a strong process execution focus
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge of financial instruments
- Understanding of decision analysis techniques, statistical modelling, and risk and uncertainty modelling
- Understanding of financial analysis and application to energy transacting
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, diverse and inclusive environment
