My client is looking for a Commercial Finance Business Partner to join their team, you will partner closely with the Commercial Director and wider Commercial team, providing accurate data, detailed scenario planning, and robust gross‑margin analysis.
Responsibilities
UK and Group Reporting
- Act as the main point of contact for customer and product gross‑margin analysis, providing insight to improve profitability.
- Ensure customer set‑ups and changes to customer terms are accurately reflected in system reporting.
- Support the Commercial team in weekly meetings, including pricing performance vs. budget/forecast and customer gross‑margin expectations.
- Manage follow‑ups from aged trade debtor reports.
- Create scenario‑planning tools for new business, procurement decisions, and commercial negotiations.
- Deliver ad hoc commercial reporting.
Business Partnering
- Partner with the Commercial Director and team, providing accurate data and robust scenario planning to enable effective decision‑making.
- Ensure full visibility of customer terms, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Lead and develop Operations Business Partners to ensure consistent support for operations teams.
- Support commercial growth opportunities, including procurement‑related projects.
- Provide overhead support for Commercial and Operations stakeholders.
- Act as the champion for gross‑margin reporting across customers and products.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Update weekly volume splits and pricing for budgets and forecasts, including visual pricing‑trend analysis.
- Produce trade‑debtors budgets and forecasts based on sales outlook and customer terms.
- Support Operations Business Partners in budget and forecast preparation, including costing, labour analysis, and gross‑margin alignment.
- Produce customer gross‑margin budget and forecast analysis for comparison against actuals.
- Maintain and enhance cost‑to‑serve models.
- Support costing updates for raw materials, packaging, logistics, and pricing decisions.
- Ensure accurate, timely costings for commercial negotiations and business cases.
- Establish governance for pricing approvals, communication, and record‑keeping.
Strategic Projects
- Support Group initiatives such as automation, new regions, category development, or vertical integration.
- Lead financial modelling for investment cases.
- Support strategic customer meetings for long‑term contract discussions.
Other Responsibilities
- Ensure consistency in processes and reporting across teams.
- Review and streamline reporting using Business Central and Power BI.
- Act as Group contact for Trade Credit Insurer.
- Support the Group Financial Controller and Finance Director with ad hoc queries.
Qualifications
- Proven track record in a commercial finance role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Business Central or similar finance systems.
