Are you passionate about data protection, transparency, and good governance? We’re looking for an organised and proactive Information Governance Officer to join our busy and supportive Information Governance Team. This is a great opportunity to learn about (UK) GDPR (The Data Protection Act), and wider information legislation while supporting the Information Governance Manager to provide services across the organisation to manage information responsibly.

About the role

In this role, you will support the Information Governance Team Leader to ensure the Council meets its statutory responsibilities and follows best practice. Key areas include:

  • Supporting compliance with (UK) GDPR.
  • Monitoring the Transparency Code.
  • Supporting the monitoring and reporting of data breaches across the organisation.
  • Assisting the Information Governance Manager when liaising with internal teams and external bodies, including regulators such as the ICO.
  • Working to deadlines and helping the Council maintain robust information governance practices.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is organised, proactive and willing to learn. You will bring:

  • A good general level of education (A-level standard or equivalent).
  • Experience working in an office-based support role.
  • Strong administration skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to interpret written policies and processes.
  • Confidence working with colleagues at all levels and providing clear guidance.
  • Strong IT skills, including office software, email, and online systems.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a small, supportive team.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive service delivery.
