Job Title: Care Home Manager (Registered Nurse Preferred)

Location: Cromer, NorfolkReports To: Operations Director

Salary: 70,000 to 75,000

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Care Home Manager, ideally an NMC Registered Nurse, to lead the daily operations of a high-quality nursing home. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of outstanding, person-centred care while maintaining full compliance with regulatory standards and driving commercial performance.

This role requires strong leadership, regulatory expertise, and business acumen, with a proven track record of managing a successful residential service, ideally with a care home/nursing home setting.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Provide strong, visible leadership to the care team.

  • Oversee all aspects of the home’s operations, including staffing, budgets, compliance, and quality assurance.

  • Promote a positive culture focused on dignity, respect, and excellence in care.

  • Support staff development, supervision, and performance management.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain full compliance with CQC standards and relevant legislation.

  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of regulatory frameworks.

  • Work proactively towards achieving and maintaining a “Good” or “Outstanding” CQC rating.

  • Ensure all policies, procedures, and documentation meet regulatory requirements.

Clinical Governance (if NMC Registered)

  • Provide clinical oversight and ensure safe nursing practice.

  • Monitor care planning, risk assessments, medication management, and safeguarding processes.

  • Promote best practice in infection control and clinical standards.

Business & Commercial Management

  • Manage budgets effectively to ensure financial sustainability and profitability.

  • Develop and implement strategies to maintain high occupancy levels.

  • Demonstrate marketing skills within the private care sector.

  • Contribute to business growth and service development.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with:

    • Residents and families

    • External healthcare professionals

    • Local authorities and regulators

  • Ensure clear, compassionate, and professional communication at all times.

Person-Centred Care

  • Champion a culture of person-centred care.

  • Ensure care plans reflect individual needs, preferences, and outcomes.

  • Drive continuous improvement in quality and resident experience.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) preferred.

  • Proven experience managing a nursing or residential care home either as a deputy or the registered manager.

  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Demonstrable experience achieving high-quality inspection outcomes.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • Strong business and marketing acumen in the private care sector.

  • Passion for delivering exceptional standards of care.

Desirable

  • Experience working towards or achieving CQC Good or Outstanding.

  • Experience managing large teams.
