Company: Gravitas Recruitment Group (Global) Ltd
Apply for the Data Engineer (Data Quality) – London
Location: Greater London
Job Description:

Location: Hybrid – 3 days/week in Central London

Are you passionate about making sure data is accurate, timely, and fit for purpose before it even reaches the data platform?

This is an opportunity to join a growing organisation in a newly created role, sitting within the Technology function and owning operational data quality across multiple source systems and platforms. You’ll be the key link between technology teams, source system owners and Data Governance, putting in place the controls, processes and forums that ensure data arrives in the Data Lake clean, consistent and reliable.

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy solving messy data problems at source, working with diverse stakeholders, and designing simple, scalable operational processes that improve data quality across the business.

Why this role?

  • High impact: Own data integrity, accuracy and timeliness across several core platforms and feeds into the Data Lake.
  • Enterprise-wide scope: Work across ERP, CRM and other key systems—not just the Data Lake or a single platform.
  • Cross-functional exposure: Act as the technology partner to Data Governance and business stakeholders.
  • Greenfield remit: Shape how data quality is managed operationally across the organisation, with scope to introduce new tooling and approaches (including AI where appropriate).

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning end‑to‑end operational data quality for key source systems feeding the Data Lake and analytics platform.
  • Defining and implementing SLAs/OLAs for data timeliness, completeness and accuracy across multiple platforms.
  • Working with source system teams and business users to improve data capture and reduce upstream data issues.
  • Designing and implementing controls, checks and monitoring to detect and prevent data corruption before data enters pipelines.
  • Creating and running regular operational forums focused on data quality, incident review and continuous improvement.
  • Developing simple tools, dashboards and processes for daily monitoring of critical data flows.
  • Partnering closely with the Data Ops Manager (post‑landing) and Data Governance team to align on rules, standards and ownership.
  • Coordinating investigation and resolution of data quality incidents across technology and business teams, and driving root‑cause fixes.

Skills & experience we’re looking for

  • Solid experience in data operations, data quality management, or data platform operations (e.g. Data Ops Manager / Data Quality Manager / similar).
  • Strong understanding of how data flows between enterprise systems (e.g. ERP, CRM, operational platforms) and into data platforms.
  • Proven track record setting and managing SLAs/OLAs and operational processes for data quality and timeliness.
  • Comfortable working across multiple platforms, focusing on data integrity rather than owning the platforms themselves.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills—able to work with engineers, product owners, and business users to drive change.
  • Good technical grounding in data (e.g. ability to analyse data issues, understand schemas and integrations).
  • Experience collaborating with Data Governance functions and working within defined policies and standards.
  • Proactive, process‑driven and comfortable operating in a complex, fast‑changing environment.
  • Exposure to data quality or monitoring tools, and interest in using automation/AI to enhance controls (nice to have, not mandatory).

If you’re driven by the challenge of improving data quality at source and want to shape how an organisation manages operational data reliability, apply today and we’ll be in touch to run you through the details.
