About the role

We’re working on an ambitious programme to overhaul the customer and colleague checkout experience, including deploying an in‑house till solution in the UK, rollout in ROI, and trials in Central Europe. Our goal is to build platforms that support the demand required to serve our customers a little better every day and offer new and exciting propositions in store.
The position will be based in our Welwyn Garden City office.
You will be responsible for
- Lead and deliver programmes with multiple business and technical risks that impact key Tesco business priorities.
- Define and track performance against customer and business KPIs.
- Manage risks and issues, influencing multiple dependent teams.
- Establish or improve delivery methodology to achieve programme goals.
- Create and track a plan to deliver programme goals, including the technical implementation plan, owning the release plan, stakeholder communication and weekly governance.
- Understand trade‑offs in delivery, using experience and influencing skills to obtain the best value and solution through consensus with Business, Technology and Engineering teams.
- Foresee potential risks and issues, establish a process, facilitate discussion and manage escalations.
- Act on opportunities to adopt trends and new concepts in programme and product delivery.
- Define a technical architecture that foresees the impact on dependencies, delivery timelines and implementation plans.
- Apply knowledge of System, Software and Data engineering and implementation best practices to understand delivery challenges.
- Manage major incidents, ensuring stakeholders are updated with the right information to drive correct decisions.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to define annual budgetary requirements.
- Build positive relationships with suppliers and external stakeholders to deliver software or professional services.
- Coach peers and other roles on methodologies and programme management tools; mentor and lead others.
- Lead other TPMs in the team, coordinating their plans into the wider programme plan.
- Play an active leadership role in the TPM guild and community, proactively influencing capability and capacity planning for TPMs.
