Role Overview
As a Tax Senior, you will manage a diverse portfolio of private and corporate clients, delivering high‑quality advisory services across a wide range of complex tax planning areas. This is a pure advisory role. We are seeking an ATT or ACCA qualified (or part‑qualified) professional with experience in corporate tax within a practice environment and a strong interest in advanced planning work. Based in Manchester city centre, you will join a collaborative team and gain exposure to significant advisory projects spanning corporate, personal, and family wealth planning.
Key responsibilities
- Advising large corporate clients on UK and international tax matters, sustaining long‑term client relationships and managing and building new business through referrals, networking, and identifying client opportunities.
- Working collaboratively in managing our clients compliance obligations, including corporate tax return submissions and tax accounting and reporting requirements.
- Leading and developing teams and colleagues
- Collaboratively and creatively solving complex issues for our clients
- Lead and manage a portfolio of advisory clients, delivering commercially focused tax planning solutions.
- Advise on corporate tax planning matters including group restructures, reorganisations, demergers, management buyouts, EOTs, valuations, profit extraction strategies (including BADR and loan note planning), and due diligence work.
- Provide guidance on optimal business structures, including partnership formations, incorporations, trade vs investment company planning, and preferred structure analysis.
- Support clients through transactions, including buying and selling businesses, with clear advice on tax implications and strategic planning.
- Deliver personal and family wealth advisory services including CGT planning, IHT mitigation (including trusts and family investment company planning), residence and domicile planning, remuneration strategies, and succession planning.
- Advise on SDLT, IHT gifts, growth planning, and wider business and personal tax planning opportunities.
- Work closely with managers and directors on complex technical assignments, contributing to high‑value advisory projects.
- Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge of UK tax legislation and emerging developments across corporate and personal tax.
- Build strong, long‑term client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service delivery.
Experience & Skills Required
- You possess a tax professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ATT, CTA, CA, ACCA (or an international equivalent) or have equivalent work experience.
- You have previous advisory experience with UK and international large corporate tax clients.
- Your experience includes sound accounting knowledge and the ability to interpret statutory accounts.
- You hold strong UK corporate tax knowledge including the ability to review UK tax computations and tax accounting and group reporting calculations and disclosures for accuracy, completeness, and to identify broader opportunities and risks for the client.
- Proven experience in corporate tax advisory, ideally including restructures, reorganisations, transactions, and strategic planning work.
- Exposure to personal tax advisory (CGT, IHT, residence, remuneration) is highly advantageous.
- Background within a Top 50 UK accountancy practice or a reputable tax advisory firm.
- Strong technical understanding of UK corporate tax, with broader business tax knowledge beneficial.
- ATT, CTA, or ACCA qualification (or part‑qualified with relevant advisory experience).
- Ability to interpret complex legislation and communicate advice clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- A proactive, analytical, and solutions‑driven approach with confidence in managing client relationships.
