We are seeking an experienced Operational Health & Safety Manager to support our Operational Site Maintenance and Estates Assurance programmes. This is a hands‑on, site‑focused role where you will play a key part in identifying, assessing, and managing health and safety risks across a complex estate.
You will work closely with operational teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure risks are effectively controlled, compliance is maintained, and a strong safety culture is embedded across all activities.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Health & Safety Risk Management
- Support Operational Project teams in assessing and categorising site hazards
- Provide governance across the Centralised Estate Risk Register
- Offer expert advice on operational health and safety risks
- Escalate emerging risks to senior leadership (Head of HSQE & Head of Operations)
- Support incident investigations and risk identification initiatives
- Assist teams in conducting suitable risk assessments
- Work with Operations teams and contractors to triage and prioritise hazards
- Monitor compliance of safety‑related issues and actions
- Produce detailed trend analysis to identify recurring risks
Out of Bounds / Restricted Access
- Review and support sites where safety issues impact access
- Contribute to safe access decision‑making processes
Stakeholder Management
- Engage with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders
- Provide expert advice, reporting, and proactive communication
Operational Reporting
- Produce regular health and safety performance reports
- Include risk mitigation plans and highlight emerging issues
- Support environmental and ESG data reporting requirements
- Support Access Management and Operational teams on safety matters
- Collaborate with Estates and Legal teams on site provider risks
- Assist with supplier governance and site induction processes
- Support incident investigations and governance frameworks
Records & Compliance
- Maintain risk assessments, corrective actions, and mitigation plans
- Ensure all safety records and trackers are accurate and up to date
About You
We’re looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented professional with strong operational experience in health and safety.
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience in an operational H&S role
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations within telecoms or construction
- Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and inspections
- Background working on telecoms cellular network infrastructure projects
- Good understanding of construction health and safety practices
- Knowledge of ISO 45001
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) membership
- Knowledge of Building Safety and CDM Regulations
- Experience applying Control of Asbestos Regulations
