Project Manager – Modular Development
Location: Manchester, Warrington or Derby with Hybrid Working Available
Why we need you
We’re looking for a Project Manager to join our Modularisation team within the Generic Product Development programme. You’ll play a key role in delivering the engineered systems and components that make our SMR modular—a crucial enabler for the future of our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) programme.
You’ll work closely with engineering, procurement and programme teams to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery, helping us progress one of the UK’s most exciting and impactful engineering programmes.
What You’ll Be Doing
We need you to bring structure, clarity, and momentum to a technically complex delivery environment. In this role, you will:
- Manage project delivery ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality.
- Work closely with engineering design teams, as well as Procurement & Supply Chain, to maintain progress, resolve issues, and drive collaboration.
- Maintain up‑to‑date project plans with support from Project Planners.
- Manage regular financial forecasts with Cost Engineers and escalation risks or issues to the Senior Project Manager.
- Review and manage risks, produce mitigation plans, and capture lessons learned.
- Build positive relationships across Engineering, Procurement & Supply Chain, Programme Management and wider business teams.
- Support external stakeholder meetings as required.
Essential Experience
- Experience managing complex engineering projects (multi‑year, multi‑£M).
- Strong working knowledge of project management processes, including risk, budget, schedule and change control.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work to challenging timescales and maintain momentum.
- Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Desirable
- Background in modularisation, complex engineering, oil & gas, water, or software implementation (where projects are modular/complex).
- Experience working in regulated environments or with licensing/consenting bodies.
- Familiarity with UK nuclear regulation (beneficial, not essential).
- Experience with tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, ARM, SAP, Excel, Power BI or Power Apps.
