The Opportunity
As a member of the Station senior leadership team, the Project Portfolio Manager is based on site at Heysham 1 Power Station. You will lead a team of station focused project professionals to deliver work safely and with maximum value.
Reporting into the Heysham 1 Station Director, you will be accountable for the performance and delivery of the station investment portfolio, driving value and benefit throughout the entire lifecycle of our plant.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Safely delivering the portfolio of projects required for generation and in preparation for defueling to time, cost and quality parameters.
- Responsible for the front‑end strategy from definition of need and through optioneering.
- Maintaining strong relationships with project sponsors and members of the Station lead team so projects are effectively supported by the business.
- Supporting day‑to‑day management of staff and contractors, including their safety and wellbeing, and engaging the team in operational learning.
- Ensuring project and portfolio level risks are identified and effectively managed.
Who You Are
We are looking for someone with a significant track record of success in delivering projects in heavily regulated and operational environments, preferably in the nuclear industry. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant health, safety and environment legislation, including Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations, is required, alongside a strong commitment to nuclear safety and zero harm.
You will form strong, meaningful relationships both on and off the Power Station, with suppliers, regulators, nuclear services and the Technical Directorate. Experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams working on technical platforms, and the ability to inspire and motivate through communication and trust building at all levels, are essential.
You should preferably hold a degree in engineering or a related subject, or have equivalent professional qualifications. A Chartered Engineer or similar qualification is expected, and an Association Project Management Professional (APMP) or Registered Project Professional (RPP) qualification is desirable.
