Functional skills tutor

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging Functional Skills lessons in Maths and/or English (Entry Level to Level 2)
• Assess learner needs and tailor sessions to support individual progress
• Track and monitor student performance, providing feedback and support
• Prepare learners for exams and ensure they build confidence in core skills
• Maintain accurate records in line with organisational and awarding body requirements
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment

Requirements:

• Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills, GCSE, or equivalent
• Relevant teaching or training qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 3 AET or above)
• Strong subject knowledge in Maths and/or English
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to engage and motivate learners with diverse needs
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable:

• Experience working with adult learners or apprentices
• Familiarity with online or blended learning platforms
• Experience supporting learners with additional needs
