Job Title: Senior Geotechnical Engineer Location: Birmingham Salary: 45,000 – 65,000 (depending on experience)
The Role A well-established consultancy based in Birmingham is looking to appoint a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to play a key role in delivering a diverse range of projects across infrastructure, commercial, and residential sectors.
This position offers a strong balance of technical delivery, project management, and team support. You’ll take ownership of projects from early-stage ground investigation through to detailed design, while also mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the wider growth of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing geotechnical projects from inception to completion
- Designing foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks solutions
- Producing and reviewing interpretative geotechnical reports
- Overseeing and specifying ground investigations
- Carrying out geotechnical analysis (e.g. slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity)
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers
- Assisting with project planning, resourcing, and commercial aspects
Requirements
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related field
- 5-10+ years’ UK consultancy experience
- Strong technical background in geotechnical design and analysis
- Proven experience managing projects and client relationships
- Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE or Geological Society)
- Good understanding of UK standards, including Eurocodes
- Full UK driving licence
