A large, complex, private multinational organisation is seeking a high‑calibre Head of Commercial Finance & Planning to lead its financial planning, forecasting and commercial business partnering activities across multiple European business units. This is a senior role within a high-performing finance function, offering significant exposure to regional leadership teams and substantial upward growth potential for the right candidate.
The role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing hands‑on FP&A leadership with strategic business partnering, working closely with senior stakeholders who lead diverse business lines across Europe. You will oversee the day‑to‑day BAU financial planning cycle while also shaping longer‑term commercial strategy and performance insights that drive decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the regional financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate, timely and insightful outputs for leadership.
- Oversee the development of financial analysis, modelling, and performance reporting that supports both short‑term delivery and long‑range planning.
- Provide proactive financial insight and challenge to senior leaders across various European business lines, supporting strategic decision‑making and commercial initiatives.
- Define and monitor KPIs to evaluate commercial performance and identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, and margin improvement.
- Prepare high-quality presentations and financial commentary for senior leadership, summarising key trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Build strong cross‑functional relationships with regional and functional teams to ensure aligned priorities and cohesive financial planning.
- Drive continuous improvement across forecasting, reporting, and commercial support processes.
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and strategic thinking.
- Ensure robust financial governance, risk management, and adherence to best practice across all planning and commercial finance activities.
- Contribute to change and transformation initiatives aimed at enhancing financial insight, systems, and processes.
Required Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with strong post‑qualification experience.
- 5-10 years post qualified FP&A / Finance Business Partnering / Commercial finance in large complex organisation.
- Proven track record Managing teams in senior commercial finance, within a large, complex, multinational environment.
- Strong analytical, modelling and forecasting skills, with the ability to synthesise complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence senior leaders and operate confidently across diverse European teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams.
- Experience managing end‑to‑end financial planning cycles and producing high‑quality leadership reporting.
- Strategic mindset combined with strong commercial acumen and a focus on driving profitable growth.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with multiple priorities.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism and resilience.
- Advanced proficiency with financial systems and reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI, Excel, SAP, or similar).
