Working Model – Onsite in Bridgend (Wales)

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a building services background to join their design team. This role is suited to someone capable of working independently within a contracting environment, delivering detailed mechanical building services designs across commercial and industrial projects.

The position involves design development through to installation, commissioning, and handover, with a strong emphasis on HVAC, public health systems, and building services coordination. The successful candidate will also be responsible for Part L compliance and Stage 4 design verification in line with UK building regulations.

The Senior Design Engineer role will involve:

  • Produce and review mechanical designs for commercial and industrial projects
  • Work independently and manage own workload
  • Prepare technical reports and specifications
  • Carry out Part L energy assessments and ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations
  • Review and verify Stage 4 designs before construction
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and ensure builder’s work requirements are met
  • Support project delivery through to installation and commissioning

The Senior Design Engineer will need to have the following attributes:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within Building Services
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Solid understanding of HVAC and mechanical building systems
  • Knowledge of Part L assessments and energy compliance
  • Knowledge of Stage 4 design and construction coordination
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Revit experience is beneficial but not essential
