Peaple Talent have partnered with a smart-building solutions company looking to recruit a Business Development Manager.

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and driven Business Development Manager to join their team in the Midlands region. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused professional with a strong background in business development, ideally within Building Management Systems (BMS) or a related industry.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving growth by identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic relationships, and promoting our client’s full range of products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, target, and develop new business opportunities within the Midlands region
  • Analyse customer databases and market segments to effectively target prospective clients in both the short and long term
  • Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline, ensuring consistent business growth
  • Prepare, generate, and deliver high-quality proposals and presentations to customers
  • Arrange and attend meetings with existing and potential clients to promote the company’s product and service offering
  • Organise and deliver roadshows, events, and product demonstrations
  • Build and nurture long‑term relationships with key customers and stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to maximise opportunities across both regional and national accounts
  • Support the preparation and submission of tenders, bids, and national proposals
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of market trends, competitors, and industry developments
  • Accurately report on sales activity, forecasts, and performance metrics

Key Experience Required

  • Proven track record in a Business Development Manager or similar role
  • Experience within Building Management Systems (BMS) or a related technical/engineering sector is highly desirable
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and convert opportunities into revenue
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and delivering compelling sales presentations and proposals
  • Excellent relationship‑building and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to analyse data and translate insights into actionable sales strategies
  • Experience working with tenders, bids, and large‑scale proposals
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and results‑driven approach
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
