A well-known UK consumer group backed by a high-profile private equity firm is seeking an Interim Head of Risk, Controls and Compliance to support the business over the next 3–6 months during an important period of transformation.
The organisation operates internationally and is strengthening its governance and control environment as it prepares for significant strategic activity. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will provide immediate leadership across risk, internal controls, internal audit and compliance, ensuring key initiatives continue to progress while the permanent hire prepares to join.
This is a highly visible position requiring someone who can quickly assess the current landscape, maintain momentum across the controls agenda and provide pragmatic leadership in a complex, multi-site retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership across enterprise risk, internal controls, internal audit and compliance
- Maintain momentum on the organisation’s risk and control framework development
- Support the CFO and senior leadership on governance and control priorities
- Oversee internal audit and compliance activities and ensure effective delivery of the audit plan
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors as required
- Provide pragmatic advice on risk mitigation, control design and remediation
- Support ongoing transformation initiatives and governance improvements
- Provide oversight and guidance to existing team members
You will be an experienced risk, controls, or compliance leader who can quickly step into a senior environment and operate with credibility. You will have experience designing or strengthening enterprise risk and control frameworks, ideally within consumer, retail or multi-site businesses, and be comfortable partnering directly with CFOs and senior stakeholders.
Experience in PE-backed, listed or pre‑IPO environments would be highly beneficial. You will combine strong technical knowledge with a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach and be comfortable leading teams and initiatives in a fast-moving environment.
