Automation Project Engineer

Job Opportunity: Automation Project Engineer Location: Near Dunball / Wembdon / Bridgwater Salary: Up to £45,000 (DOE, slight flexibility)

Join a global leader in complex mechanical equipment as we strengthen our automation capability at our Bridgwater site. We’re looking for a hands‑on Automation Project Engineer to deliver automation projects and optimise existing manufacturing equipment.

About the Role

• Deliver automation projects from scope and specification through to commissioning and handover
• Work with suppliers to introduce new automated equipment and production capability
• Support, upgrade, and fault‑find on legacy machinery including presses, CNC machines, ovens, and robotics
• Troubleshoot PLC‑controlled systems and optimise current equipment performance
• Improve data collection from semi‑automated equipment
• 50% new projects | 50% existing equipment improvement

What We’re Looking For

• HNC / HND in Electrical, Automation or related Engineering discipline
• PLC experience (Siemens TIA Portal desirable, any PLC platform considered)
• Strong fault‑finding and hands‑on automation experience in manufacturing
• Experience delivering projects across the full lifecycle
• Confident working with suppliers and cross‑functional teams
